  • www.accuchex.com Payroll and HRIS. Accuchex has outstanding, highly flexible web-based services and customer support you can count on…in your time zone!

  • www.esrcheck.com Pre-employment screening. Les Rosen wrote the book on safe hiring (really!) and his company, Employment Screening Resources does a fine job. You can’t afford NOT to do background checks.

  • www.companalysis.com Compensation plans. Shari Dunn at Companalysis really understands the link between pay and performance.

  • www.ceac.org Low-cost training. Chapters of the California Employer Advisory Council (in partnership with EDD) have excellent seminars at bargain rates. Look for the one nearest you.

  • www.humanresources.org Good HR information. The National HR Association has a splendid website, some of which is available only to members (it’s very reasonable to join).

  • O*NET is connected to the Department of Labor, but a fantastic resource for occupation and wage information...very helpful in putting together job descriptions. (http://online.onetcenter.org)

  • Department of Fair Employment and Housing (DFEH) - The DFEH's web site contains excellent information about the Fair Employment and Housing Act (FEHA) and requirements to comply with this statute. (www.dfeh.ca.gov)

  • Department of Industrial Relations (DIR) - This web site contains information and regulations about California's workers' compensation system, as well as a link to the California Labor Code. (www.dir.ca.gov)

  • Department of Insurance - This web site of the California Department of Insurance contains regulations, insurance company licensing information and procedures to report fraud. (www.insurance.ca.gov)

  • Employment Development Department (EDD) - The EDD's web site contains information about CA's paid family leave statute, state disability insurance benefits and unemployment insurance benefits, as well as various required postings and pamphlets.
